Abstract: Income inequality has intensified in the United States in recent decades. Much of the literature shows that, despite this, support for redistribution fails to grow at a similar rate. This paper draws upon a sample from the 2021 General Social Survey (GSS) to investigate (1) the association between household income and support for wealth redistribution, (2) whether the association between household income and support for wealth redistribution differs by age in the United States. The motivation of this paper is to provide insight on understanding how support towards wealth redistribution policies is shaped, and whether younger generations to come possess significantly similar or different views to that of their predecessors.
