Abstract: This study examines the association between preterm birth (defined here as more than three weeks early) and the presence of respiratory symptoms (regular wheezing, regular coughing, and/or diagnosed chronic bronchitis, asthma, or emphysema). After establishing the existence of a relationship, tests were performed to control for income and presence of insurance on said relationship. The findings of this project are relevant for future medical procedure and for programs targeting the respiratory health of adults born preterm, particularly those who are also low-income.
