Abstract: Public debates about abortion and assisted suicide reflect broader questions about the value of human life and individual autonomy. Using data from the 2021 General Social Survey (N = 4,032), this study tests whether opposition to abortion predicts opposition to assisted suicide while controlling for demographic, religious, and political factors. A chi-square test and logistic regressions showed that people who oppose abortion were significantly more likely to oppose assisted suicide, and political conservatism also predicted greater opposition. These findings suggest that attitudes toward abortion and assisted suicide are guided by a broader sanctity-of-life moral framework rather than isolated opinions about individual issues.
